OYO 1147 The Moment Hostel

The bed was a bit hard, though for the price it was fine, no complaints. I didn’t try the food, but it looked tasty. It’s a quick walk to the beach, and the facilities were great. The staff were warm, welcoming people with good hearts, and they took good care of the place.

I stayed at The Moment for three nights in October 2018 and was happy with it. The bathrooms were spacious and so clean that I never found anything remotely dirty. It was quiet at night, with no blaring music or similar nonsense, and the staff were sweet and helpful. For an economical hostel, the location is brilliant. Ao Nang beach is a quick ten-minute walk away, and right outside there are lots of restaurants, street food carts, massage parlors and 24*7 department stores. One small tip: before buying a package from the hostel desk, such as a one day island trip, check the prices at the kiosks along the road. I found a difference of 100-200 bath. Cheers! :)

For what I paid, I expected a lot less. The rooms and showers were really clean, and the air conditioning worked well. Reception were helpful with questions about the hostel and ideas for what to do during the day, and they spoke English. The atmosphere was nice too, mostly young backpackers.

The staff were nice and helped us find tours at good prices. At 340 baht per night, I’d recommend the place. The bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and tidy, there was free soap in both the baths and toilets, and the showers had plenty of space. The air conditioning was comfortable, not too cold but enough to sleep. One night there was a lot of noise from other guests, and the big dorm hallway might encourage more noise from drunk teenagers returning late. The location is about a 10-minute walk from the beach. Across the road there’s a decent food market with meals from 80 baht, plus plenty of nearby places for food and drinks with live music. I had a pretty bad meal at The Moment's restaurant: fried rice with 3 prawns, plain rice, no vegetables and very little taste.
