Vacay Aonang Hotel

The room had a good mountain view, and for the price it was okay. It was clean, though the shower pressure was very low. The rooftop gives you a view of the sunset, and the pool is small but fine for a quick cool-off. I stayed four nights at the start of January. The location was okay, a little far from the beach, but quieter with fewer people around. Some nights the nearby mosque woke me at 5:20 a.m., and sound also travelled through the thin wall to the hallway. There was very little service at the hotel. It felt like nobody noticed whether guests were there, and the receptionist often sat on the sofa without saying hello.

The rooms were clean, and the location was okay, about a 15-minute walk to the beach. The air conditioner was very loud and too cold, while the mattress was so hard that we were awake most of the first night. There wasn’t any hand soap, which felt odd. The staff were pretty average. I wouldn’t go back.

It felt like a decent deal for the area, though we still thought the price was high for what we got. A short walk takes you to the beach and plenty of restaurants. Our room was clean with a spacious bathroom, comfortable bed, nice vanity and mirror, and no smell. There’s also a handy waiting area out front to sit while you wait for tour buses. On the downside, the shower kept switching between scalding and ice cold, and the towels were thin and a bit dingy. We got just one key card for two guests, which was inconvenient when one of us needed to go out. The mosque across the street could be heard very early in the morning. We’d stay again.

The location was good, but the hotel itself was very bare bones. I booked the last available room, the one with bunk beds, and it had no TV or fridge even though those were listed. The mattresses were rock hard, with just one pillow. When I asked for another, they said they didn’t have any. Breakfast wasn’t offered either. I was on the fifth floor directly below the pool, and could hear people talking in it through a bathroom window that wouldn’t close. The walls were very thin. A mosque right by the hotel played singing four times a day, starting at 5 a.m. There was also a loud mechanical sound, maybe from the pool, with constant ticking. I barely slept during my five nights. They said the hotel was full when I asked to switch rooms. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t stay here again.
