Tony's Place Beds and Breakfast

We only went for breakfast, so I can’t say anything about the rooms. The dining space was great, open to the air but covered and breezy, just right. The fried breakfast options were varied, though the portions were small and the quality nothing special, still acceptable to start the day. Things were a bit sloppy until a young man came on duty; he spoke good English and knew what he was doing. Overall, the meal felt like a two or three star dining experience.

The Songkran Festival in Thailand was lively and fun here. The hotel is right on the bar street, which makes the location excellent, but also means it can be noisy. If you like the bustle, you’d probably love it; if you need a quiet night’s sleep, look elsewhere. The boss is very handsome, enthusiastic, and friendly, and you can borrow a motorcycle without leaving your passport. I thought the hotel was great, but I’m getting older and go to bed early, so it wasn’t really a fit for me. Ha ha ha ha.

The location is great, close to historical sites, restaurants, and bars, including some good ones across the road. Music carries into the rooms, though it stops at midnight, so early sleepers may want another hotel. We stayed two nights. The room was nicely decorated and everything worked, but the bed was quite hard. Staff were professional and friendly with excellent service, and the owner was polite and friendly too. Still, we didn’t appreciate being encouraged to visit his other resort each time he saw us. There was no staff around at night; once they went home, the lights were off and the hotel looked closed.

We were meant to stay six nights, but left after the third. The first room was disgusting, and the second was dirty too, though we’re used to travelling and aren’t fussy. The welcome was very poor and the staff unpleasant. Music from nearby bars played every night, and to top it off, there were bedbugs. Run away!
