Doona Resort

We left feeling rested and happy after a lovely family stay at Doona Resort. The sunset views were a highlight, and dinner and breakfast were both delicious. It’s such a peaceful place in the middle of nature, with thoughtful decor throughout. The family who runs the restaurant were especially welcoming, kind, and helpful. Highly recommended.

We liked it enough to book another stay for July. After four nights here, it was our favorite accommodation of the trip. It’s quiet and beautiful, and the staff took great care of us. They also rent bicycles and motorbikes, so getting around wasn’t a problem. A great fit if you want somewhere calm and surrounded by nature.

We’d happily stay here again. The family running the property were so friendly and helpful, and our room was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. Dinner at the restaurant was excellent. My husband said the curry was the best he’d had on the trip so far, and he’d already tried six. One thing we learned the hard way: this place is remote, so don’t count on Bolt or Grab. Arrange airport transport directly through the hotel.

The host, Note, was easy to reach in person or on WhatsApp, and I had some of the best coffee I’ve tried in Chiang Mai. We came as a family with our one-year-old, my wife, and my father-in-law, and had a wonderful stay. Set among green rice fields, the resort looks out toward Chiang Mai’s mountains. There’s a pool, and the surrounding nature feels very much alive. Wildlife might even come by while you’re sleeping, which is part of the charm. A lovely place to slow down. I’d gladly return and recommend it.
