Caligo Resort

The view is amazing, and the service was fantastic. The rooms are spacious, and you can see that a lot went into building the place on such a steep hillside. Staff were attentive, and the food was quite nice. Eating outside made for a very romantic setting. Still, the resort needs serious upkeep, pest control, and a deep clean. We had ants in our room, one sheet had visible holes, some areas were poorly lit, and the dated furniture was falling apart in places. For the price, it wasn't what we expected. It's a nice place to stay, but much of what you're paying for is the view.

All the staff were super nice and friendly. The poolside dinner setup was romantic, and the view is absolutely stunning. It's also handy for the lake, only a 5-minute drive away. Tourist areas, hiking spots, and day or night safari trips are about an hour's drive each way, though. For the price, the quality didn't meet expectations. Insects and ants were all over the bed and in the bathroom, and the sheet had holes. Pest control is urgently needed. The food was okay, but service slowed down when the place got busy, and it felt understaffed. They need more people for peak times. Repainting, better gardening, rubbish removal, finishing construction, and fixing things that are falling apart would all help. There's a lot of potential in the location and view, but management needs to put more into maintenance and the details to justify the high prices. If they improve these things, maybe they could charge even more.

We only stayed one night as a couple, and the food was extremely delicious and very reasonably priced. Our room was spacious, spotless, and secluded, with a lovely forest view. I woke to a beautiful sunrise, and the bar was stocked with everything we needed. The service was unlike anything I've experienced elsewhere in Thailand. They helped us arrange a taxi and sort out plans, and didn't make an issue of my girlfriend forgetting her hairdryer. We were heading to Phuket, so Areerat at reception went out of her way to mail it in a package to our hotel there before we left. She didn't charge us, she just did it to help. Areerat was unbelievably warm and kind. Thank you again.

The employees were fantastic and made a real difference. I'm grateful for how attentive they were during our stay. I'll always remember the view from the room, and even from the bathroom, as well as the nice pool beside reception. The resort could be worth 5 stars, but it needs some refreshing. Given how isolated it is, the owner could also add services like massages, a spa, or cooking classes. The hotel restaurant is very good, but if you're up for a little walk, there's another place 500 meters away near the viewpoint. Getting there on foot is a short challenge, though the return is much easier.
