The Theatre Villa

I booked for my family because the high rating made me think a place costing a thousand THB would be more promising. I was in a hurry and didn't properly read what other guests had written. It turned out to be a nightmare for us. The place was rundown and dirty, and the hospitality was awful. Check-in wasn't smooth, though we could accept that. What we couldn't accept was an unwashed drinking glass with lip marks still on it, and a 200THB extra charge for food rubbish brought in from outside. They also said bringing sand into the room would mean another 200Thb charge. We stayed at a resort next door on the same beach, where there was a shower right on the beach. We rinsed off each time, but still inevitably carried some sand into our room. It seems over the top to expect so much from guests while providing such poor cleanliness and hospitality at these prices. I'm a host myself with several tourist places in Bangkok, and I've traveled around a lot. This place is really bad, and I feel ashamed that tourists are offered somewhere like this in Thailand.

The beach was lovely, clean, deserted, and a great place to sit or walk. Breakfast was top notch, with homemade bread, great coffee, and a wide choice of exotic fruit. The staff and owner were ultra-friendly and made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived, taking care of everything we needed. We only booked one night, which was our mistake. An hour after arriving we wanted to stay longer, but our beachside room was already booked for the next day. It's a fantastic little resort with a real family feel. I'd love to return someday.

The quiet beach and clean, well-kept room made for a pleasant stay. The facilities aren't anything spectacular, but the owner and staff were hospitable and service-minded, and made me feel at home. Dinner was tasty and reasonably priced, and breakfast came with plenty of fruit. Good value for money. I don't usually give five stars, but I'd definitely come back.

We liked the location right on the beach, our clean sea-view room, and breakfast with homemade bread. The welcome was another story. Two girls were staffing the place during our visit and seemed not to want us there. Communication was nearly impossible, something that hadn't happened once in our three months in Thailand. Calling the owner helped a little. The garden and beachfront looked neglected. We wonder if the place changed owners, because the enthusiasm in earlier reviews doesn't match the unwelcoming atmosphere from both staff and property.
