Ascott Embassy Sathorn Bangkok

We received an email about bidding for an upgrade less than 24 hours before check-in, and got a one-bedroom apartment. It was amazing, with a kitchenette and all its appliances, plus a spacious living room and bedroom. When we asked to lower the AC temperature, an engineer came right away to fix it. The hotel description didn't mention the bar below, RIM. Going out at night with a child felt a little shady, and as Muslims who are conservative, we weren't comfortable with our child seeing a night bar. Breakfast also needs improvement. The selection was very limited for Muslims, and generally quite small. The bakery had only TWO options, croissants and blueberry danish. For a 5-star hotel charging that price for breakfast, I'd expect more. The kids club had just 5 toys and a TV. I asked reception about other activities, and they said there weren't any.

The rooms, amenities, and service made the stay well worth the money, and I'd gladly recommend the hotel and return. Staff were professional and genuinely helpful, and everyone we spoke with had excellent English. The place was impeccably clean, and the location was a very good base for both business and leisure in the city. One small tip if you're booking for three: check whether the extra bed is included or costs more. We hadn't confirmed that in advance, but the staff were understanding and provided one at no extra charge.

The rooms are comfortable, quiet, and spacious, with good air conditioning, beds, and well-ventilated bathrooms. The building looks a little old outside, and nearby towers block much of the view from about half the rooms, but the inside has been nicely remodeled. Service at the Ascott Embassy was the best I've had in Bangkok. This was my first stay with the ASR group. Staff were always smiling and ready to help, and arranged both early check-in and late checkout. Housekeeping was thorough without resetting the room each day or moving my things around, which is a big pet peeve of mine. It's a little far from BTS/MRT, but the shuttle to Sala Daeng and Lumphini Park runs very often. Once, it was already leaving for another destination when we needed a ride, so they found another vehicle and dropped us off in maybe 3 minutes. Such a thoughtful gesture. I can't comment on breakfast, since I usually head out to explore Bangkok's thousands of things to eat.

The staff were friendly everywhere, and the breakfast buffet on the 37th floor was detailed and a great way to start the day. We especially liked the very roomy two-room apartment on the upper levels, with its awesome view. Easily one of the best hotels we've stayed in. The kids club could use more toys, but aside from that, everything was absolutely awesome.
