Bally Suite Silom

I've travelled often for work and pleasure, and this is by far the filthiest hotel I've experienced. Management and ownership have completely neglected it. The photos are extremely deceiving compared with what I found. I'm leaving tomorrow morning, and I don't care if they refuse to refund me. I'm not someone who complains much, but this place is horrendous. When I first got to my room, I found that the door wouldn't lock when I tried to leave. I got a sticky key. On the eighth floor, everything was filthy, the elevator smelled awful of mould and mildew, and its carpeting was dirty. There's a post on the elevator wall saying the hotel smells good because it's smoke free. Is that some kind of stupid joke? I'll take smoke over mold, mildew, humidity, and general filth any day. There wasn't even a single box of tissues in the room. When I raised the broken lock with the front desk, the staff member tried to reach the cleaning lady, then told me she was taking a shower and that I could just leave the room unlocked until she came out and came up to lock it. Seriously? I was expected to leave my room unattended and unlocked while I went out, at the mercy of a cleaning lady who would eventually come up to the eighth floor?

You get what you pay for here. The location is amazing, with easy access to everything, but the rooms are dingy and look rough. I dropped my things on the desk when I arrived, thankfully, then went out for the night. When I returned and lifted the little fabric drape at the end of the bed to settle in, I found a bug. I showed it to the front desk, and they came up and removed it. I asked for another room. The manager said there were no more rooms until tomorrow because the hotel was sold out, and visibly got frustrated. I said I wasn't going to sleep in a bed where I'd found bugs. He stormed off saying “one minute,” and somehow a key to an available room appeared!

The staff deserve credit. They were polite, hardworking, and helpful throughout my five nights. The location is really strategic, between the BTS and MRT stations. My room was spacious, but it faced the BTS track, and you can imagine the noise despite the facade installed on the window. Bars and clubs nearby also made the nights very noisy, so light sleepers may suffer. For a long stay, I wouldn't recommend this place. Management needs to invest in renovating or repairing the rooms to suit current needs. The mattresses especially need replacing. I could feel the springs hitting my body as I slept, and after five nights, the least I wanted was a decent bed to rest in. For a short stay, if you don't mind the nighttime noise, it may be worth it.

The location works perfectly if you want the BTS and nightlife, and the large room was okay for what I paid, 1,500B a night. Still, I wouldn't book here again. The room needs attention. The floor was damaged and needs repairing, the plug socket didn't work, and there was only one accessible socket in the bedroom. I ended up charging my phone in the bathroom.
