Boon Street Hostel

This was a peaceful Bangkok base that worked just right for me and my friend. We came back three times while traveling around Asia. The staff were all kind and friendly, and the rooms and toilets were always clean. :)

I’ve stayed in many parts of Bangkok, from Silom and Nana to Siam, Saphan Taksin, Thonglor, Talad Noi, Khaosan, Yaorawat, Mochit, and now San Chao POA Suea. This is one of the worst hostels I’ve experienced. I’ve never reviewed a hostel before, but management frustrated me enough to write this. The rooms felt bleak. I expected a window and didn’t get one, and the window rooms are much larger, so check carefully. I paid for a room for two but was given a smaller one. The bed was extremely hard, and I ended up lying on top of the blanket for a little comfort. The lobby also felt run-down, needed renovation, and had no AC, so it was too uncomfortable to spend time there. Agoda’s attractive photos set expectations that the stay didn’t meet. The Wi-Fi was the worst part. I couldn’t get my work done, and some of it was lost because of the poor connection. I raised it politely on the first day and was told it had been fixed, but it still didn’t work properly on day two. They apologized, but the connection wasn’t fully fixed until the third day, just as I was about to check out. By then I didn’t feel like talking to anyone or having a conversation; I just wanted to leave. Wi-Fi is a basic hostel facility, and they couldn’t get it right. There were a few saving graces: the place was clean, reception was open 24 hours, and they kindly accepted a parcel for me. Those things earned it one star. Without them, I’d have given it zero.

My friend and I had to come to Bangkok several times, and we kept choosing Boon. The staff are lovely, friendly, and accommodating. It’s a really nice hostel, and I’d definitely recommend it.

The owner and family were so kind. They made sure we had cold water whenever we came back, and the shared bathroom was exceptionally clean and well equipped. It was a very nice stay. There’s also a no-shoes-inside rule, with everyone leaving shoes by the lift, which is a cool idea.
