Chill Inn Bangkok

I was bike packing, and the staff kindly let me leave my bicycle behind the kitchen. My queen-bed room was roomy and comfortable, and I liked it enough to stay three days instead of the one I’d planned. Ekkamai BTS is right in front of the hotel, and the bus terminal is only a street away. During the morning rush, turn right out of the hotel and walk along Sukhumvit Road to find food vendors selling breakfast and lunch packs. There was so much interesting, delicious food, and discovering that part of Bangkok made me really happy. I had a great stay in October 2025.

I left this hostel regretting my Bangkok visit. The problems, insults, and pain I experienced there felt like the same things I’ve faced at hotels and hostels around Bangkok since 2016. While I was trying to sleep, my neck and hands felt electrically choked. I felt staff and other people were hurting me, including a cleaner who seemed happy to hit the bed. Roommates using laptops and phones also seemed to be causing harm. I told the staff, but the next day I had to pay more at the “walk in rates.” I experienced more than 30 accusations and insults, and felt hatred from staff and people at the hostel and nearby. Music and people turning their backs seemed to carry implications about my skin color and religion. Their website and card machine weren’t working, and I felt they implied I hadn’t paid and used talk of discounts to ridicule and hurt me. I had similar discrimination, insults, and pain from what seemed to be the same tourism company elsewhere, outside Bangkok. It felt like there might be corruption involved.

I took a solo trip last December and was pleasantly surprised. The staff were accommodating and helpful whenever I needed them, and the room had plenty of space for my things. I also liked being under a BTS station and near a peaceful neighborhood, away from the bustle, which I appreciated as a first-time visitor to BKK. The shower curtain looked old and could use replacing. I also needed a laundry rag replaced quickly, but they couldn’t provide one. Still, I enjoyed my stay.
