If I come back to Bangkok, I'll stay here again. Deep Sleep Hostel & Q BAR is my favorite hostel in Thailand and the best one I've tried in Bangkok. It costs less per night than many other hostels here, with great service and facilities for the price. The place is spacious rather than crowded, the rooms are a decent size, and the bathroom and shower area is huge. There are drying racks by big open windows to help with humidity, something I haven't seen elsewhere. The sink has a proper counter for your things, unlike the floating sinks at most hostels. There are plenty of toilets upstairs and downstairs, so no waiting. There are lots of useful places and things nearby: a lady right outside makes delicious, affordable street food, there's a coin laundry on the corner, and three 7-Elevens are within walking distance. The hostel's on a fairly wide main alley, so Grab drivers can find it and pick you up easily. At another hostel in Chinatown, drivers canceled on me almost every time because they couldn't find it or get to it. The road here has traffic and noise, but I never heard it in my room. The staff are wonderful and really go out of their way to help. When I needed a bowl for instant noodles, they also brought me a plate to put it on, another to cover it, and cutlery. They plugged in the hot water machine and even did the dishes afterward. Their airport shuttle for 200 baht is a great deal compared with a taxi or Grab. The facilities are kept exceptionally clean. Staff promptly clear hairs from the sink, mop regularly, and keep the toilets spotless. The beds are hard, though. The rooms' air conditioning runs from 6 PM to 12 PM, which gives you a generous stretch of cool air through the night and morning. There's a pool table for 20 baht, an air-conditioned bar with glass walls and natural light where you can work on your computer or get out of the heat, and a common room with a TV, couch, fans, outlets, tables, and chairs. My one real complaint is that people smoke indoors despite the no-smoking rule. Weed smell doesn't bother me much, but cigarette smoke does, and I'd rather not have it inside. I don't want to burn out the spot, but it deserves the recognition. Highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

The location was okay, but the owners need to change their attitude. They threatened to call the police as soon as I used the washroom. I tried to calmly explain that I needed to get my wallet, but they just got aggressive. The young woman at reception understood, while the older man and woman were very unprofessional.

The lobby and staff were nice, but that was about all I liked. We chose the hostel because the price was very good and the photos looked nice, but the actual building feels like a construction site with lots still to be done. It's basically an open space with a few beds. The upstairs showers and toilets are nice, but they feel out of place. Our room had only a bunk bed with mattresses as hard as wood, plus a closet with broken handles and no hangers. The room light switch is out in the hallway. The ACs are supposedly off from 12:00 to 18:00. Windows are glued shut, and the door frame is bigger than the door.

Everything else was great, including the staff, location, and surroundings. But those wooden bunk beds creak whenever I turn over, so we kept waking each other. Please get more comfortable mattresses too. It felt like sleeping on wood, and these Thai beds don't belong in hostels or hotels.
