Furama Silom Hotel

The rooftop pool was great, with a nice restaurant and amazing views. The recent bedroom and hallway renovations have made the rooms brighter and fresher. It’s a lovely hotel in a great location, with staff who are very friendly and helpful. I was disappointed by a couple of things involving other guests from India. Several times in the elevator, I noticed a strong body odor from guests from India. Once, I saw a young child holding his nose and asking his father about the bad smell. Since soap and shampoo are provided for free, I think guests should show basic courtesy and maintain a minimum level of hygiene. On another occasion, a couple from India got into the pool fully clothed, one in long black pants and a long sleeve shirt, the other in long pants and a jumper. Around 25 people stared in disbelief, and everyone immediately left the pool. Maybe guests like them could be put on lower floors and use the stairs instead of the elevator.

My room had an issue with the bathroom sink, but I asked the staff and they fixed it. The service was good and welcoming, and the rooms were clean with a good view. The rooftop pool was impressive, too, with nice city views. I didn’t have time to try the gym or suana, though I’m sure they would’ve been okay. As a first time traveller, I liked this hotel a lot. It’s in a good spot, with a bus stop outside that goes to the trains, including the airport link and BTS, and a train station nearby.

The location made getting around easy, and the staff even arranged a breakfast box for our 5:30am taxi. We were allowed to check in early, which was lucky after our flight. Our room on the 18th floor was huge, with a big bed, a lovely bathroom, and a smart TV. It was a great place to catch up on sleep and shake off the jet lag. We enjoyed the simple rooftop pool and its Bangkok view, and towels were free to borrow. The woman at the bar was friendly, and the buy two drinks, get one free deal was nice. We’d also booked the executive lounge, where food and drinks were included from 6-8pm each evening. We’d happily stay again.

After three days at another hotel, I checked out and went back to Furama Silom. I know the place from many earlier visits, and I should have trusted that instead of trying somewhere else in the neighborhood. It’s been a good stay every time, and this trip was no different. The breakfast buffet has plenty of Western and Asian-inspired choices, and the rooftop pool is a relaxing spot with great views. Rooms are roomy, with big, comfortable beds. The staff are always welcoming and helpful, and no request feels like a bother. I’ll keep coming back whenever I’m in Bangkok.
