Good Day Hostel

I’ve stayed here a couple of times and loved it, so I’ll keep coming back. The hostel is clean and charming, and the cafe serves good coffee and drinks. The staff are genuinely nice and polite, and the location is great.

The shared area was hard to use comfortably. Local guests had spread lots of luggage across the cooking and common spaces, were talking loudly, and took up most of the room; some people were lying on the floor too. My own room had a broken luggage-storage unit. A receptionist came to look and said she’d told the owner it would be fixed the next morning, but it still hadn’t been repaired by my last day. The location is fantastic, with shopping attractions nearby, and my stay was otherwise good. But housekeeping changed my sheet and took my towel without leaving a clean one. I needed to shower, but there was no towel, and nobody was at reception overnight. I waited until morning because I had to leave at 7:00 AM, but reception was still empty at 7:30, so I left without showering.

The price and location were okay, but I definitely won’t return. Check-in was badly handled: I arrived around 6 PM to a locked door with no staff there and got inside only because another guest helped me. Towels, room numbers, and locker keys were laid out on a table with guests’ names visible. The instructions came through Agoda after 7 PM, too late for my arrival, especially since staff had left before 6. This should have been explained when the booking was confirmed. There were large packages scattered around the common areas, which made it difficult for other travelers to move around or enjoy the space. Most guests seemed to be Indonesians reselling clothes, and I felt the hostel should work directly with that group instead of being open to the public. The bed was spacious but dirty, with visible grime along the sides. Although quiet hours were posted after 11 PM, people were still talking and laughing loudly in the level 2 common area at 1 AM. I could hear them from my bed on level 3, and I’m not even a light sleeper.

I felt safe and at ease here, and the convenient location was easy to get to. The staff were warm and accommodating. Good Day Hostel was clean, cozy, and very affordable. I’d recommend it to solo travelers or anyone on a budget.
