In A Box Hostel

The room was very clean, and the price was really affordable. Ploi and Pam were very friendly. There’s complimentary breakfast with cereal, bread, toasters, and jam, and the luggage storage area is big enough for backpacks and large suitcases. It’s also close to the Airport Metro, Pratunam Night Market, Platinum Mall, and a boat station.

We paid in cash on arrival for our booking on 7 January. There were a few small bugs in the room at first, which I could put up with, but after we’d been out for several hours we came back to find loads gathered on the table by the sink. It made me feel sick. My sister then found two huge bugs in her open rucksack, and we spotted a few more large ones hiding around the room. The little ones seemed to scatter up the walls near the sink in room D1. We didn’t feel able to spend the night there, so we handed our keys in and booked another hotel, The Asia Hotel, a two-minute drive away. We explained everything at the desk and asked for a full refund. I hope the room gets sorted out before someone else stays there. I’ll update this if we get our money back, since that would say something about their honesty and kindness.

A quiet, cozy place where we stopped for a quick bath. The front desk lady was friendly and attentive, and they provided clean, warm towels.

Avoid this hostel. I arrived around 9 pm without a reservation, with travel planned for the next day. The room price the desk lady gave me was higher than the website, so I booked through trip.com instead. When I went to find my passport for check-in, I realized I’d lost it at Bangkok airport. I told the woman at reception I had to go back and look for it, so I needed to cancel the booking. I cancelled through trip.com, but the hostel still charged me for the night even though I never checked in or stayed there. The desk lady knew I had no passport for a last-minute booking. I spent the night searching for my passport at the airport and luckily found it in lost and found after midnight. I didn’t stay at the hostel, but they charged me anyway. That feels dishonest. Avoid this kind of business.
