Karaarom Hotel

Breakfast was delicious, and I appreciated the local options even though there weren’t many choices. The room was roomy and comfortable, with a kitchen stocked with the utensils and pans we needed. I liked the small comforts, from the body lotion and pillow choices to the bolster, which I don’t think I’ve had at a hotel before. The welcome drink and cold towel were a lovely arrival touch, and the staff were kind, friendly, and spoke good English. The hotel has a calm, homey feel, with thoughtful design and characterful pieces throughout. It was probably the best hotel we’ve stayed at so far. We’d gladly come back on our next trip.

The breakfast was the standout for me. It was very good, with several set combinations, authentic Thai food, and hot and cold drinks each morning. One day my latte even had a tiger in the foam, a fun little detail. We stayed here after Tints of Blue Hotel, and since both places share an owner, they seem to have a similar approach to design and hospitality. Karaarom felt soothing and elegant, with soft lighting and designer furniture. Our room had wood throughout, a glass-covered shower room with everything needed, and a nice sofa by the window. The size felt fair for the price. I also liked the complimentary insulated French press, good ground coffee sachets, and two jasmine tea sachets. The team were always smiling and helped with whatever we needed, including finding a charming handmade ceramic pot at the sister hotel. There’s a helpful itinerary bulletin board in the lobby, a souvenir shop with beautiful items, plus a gym and swimming pool. The main drawback is getting to the BTS. Thong Lo is about a 10-15 minute walk along a busy two-way road with only a narrow safety margin, and it felt a little dangerous at times. Taxis are easy to get, though, and once settled the near-central location gives access to lots of attractions and conveniences. On arrival, we got a chilled towel with a light essential-oil scent and a tasty cold cocktail-style juice. It was a caring welcome and set a nice tone. Karaarom is thoughtfully run by lovely people, and despite the walking issue, the stay felt warm, stylish, and memorable. It’s worth recommending if you appreciate considered design and heartfelt hospitality. It was my first visit, and I’m already thinking about returning.

I only had three days on my first Bangkok trip, but I’m glad I chose Karaarom Hotel after seeing its ad while looking for a place to stay. The staff were friendly when I arrived, with no rude behavior, and my room looked new and clean. I even checked the pillows and mattress, and they seemed new with no mold. There’s a laundry room where you can wash things yourself or pay to have them washed. Breakfast had Western and Asian food, and it was delicious. The hotel is in a prime area, with public transport only minutes away and Michelin Guide restaurants nearby. If you care about cleanliness, or are as particular about it as I am, give it a try.

They took care of my airport ride for the next day, writing down my flight number and departure time, working out when I should leave, and arranging the car ahead of time. In the morning, we realized we didn’t have enough Thai Baht to pay. The staff told us not to worry and to have breakfast while they sorted it out, and they even helped exchange the currency while we ate. I’d arrived on April 14th before check-in time. They patiently explained the rules and kept my luggage for me. Everyone was thoughtful and responsible.
