Kaset Guesthouse

The room was decent, with a big smart TV, comfortable beds, and excellent AC. Being right next to the green BTS line was a big plus, and they allowed flexible extensions. But a few things brought my recommendation down to three stars. There was no toilet paper, even after I asked. It seemed to be the guesthouse’s way of doing things: you arrive and should have napkins or toilet paper with you. The receptionists couldn’t speak English. That’s fine, but I’d expect staff to know at least enough to welcome guests. I also felt like a walking ATM rather than a welcomed guest. One staff member was friendly, and honestly the others could learn from her. I arrived in BKK at 5:30 am, with check-in officially at noon. When I asked about checking in early, I was told, “We do not do that.” Later, I asked if I could drop my bags so we could go out, and was told, “We open 8am.” But when we arrived, early check-in was available, for 100 Baht per hour earlier. Cheers for that.

For a great price, you get air conditioning, a big smart TV, and hot water.

You can walk to Kasertsart University from here, and the room was clean. There are comfortable places to eat nearby. But this is a student dormitory, not a hotel. The price is cheap, though the building is very old and the real place doesn’t look like the pictures. The TV wasn’t good.

The room smelled of mold as soon as I walked in, and you could see it on the ceiling and floor. There was no toilet paper, soap, or shampoo. The shower was a low-end water heater with a hose showerhead. The front door is kept locked, so if you don’t have a Thai phone number, good luck getting inside. I’d recommend finding somewhere else.
