Mango 10 House

A clean, comfortable and affordable place, with free drinking water. It's also a great spot for getting a feel for local life. One of the best places to stay in Bangkok.

The quiet street and easy access to transport were the best parts for me. Mango 10 Hotel is a short walk from Thailand Cultural Centre MRT station, and Jodd Fairs night market is close enough that I walked there for dinner almost every night. The walk to the main street can feel long in the heat, but that also helps keep things peaceful. My room was clean, had the essentials, and was a pleasant surprise for the price. The AC was a lifesaver in Bangkok's heat, and the Wi-Fi was fast enough to plan the next day's outings. The staff were very friendly and happy to share useful tips. It's not a big fancy hotel, so there's no pool or full service restaurant, but it suited my budget trip well.

The room was clean and spacious, the bed soft and comfortable, and the bathroom nice. I only wish there were a small fridge. It's a good budget place to rest, with 7-11 nearby and plenty of small food vendors around. The food court is a 10-minute walk, and MRT and Thailand Cultural Center are about 15 minutes away on foot. The narrow streets are awkward for cars, though scooters are fine. Check-in and checkout were easy, and the office staff were very friendly.

Our first room smelled of cigarette smoke, so we asked to move. There were no individual water bottles, just a reusable plastic one for taking water from the fountain in the main hall. Ours smelled like old coffee, which was disgusting. The AC barely worked in the second room too. We cancelled the booking and went to another hotel. This is not a four-star hotel, and we found a cleaner place at a two-star hotel. I wouldn't recommend it.
