Mango Lagoon Place

The resort is lovely once you get through the rather unimpressive approach. There's a peaceful, attractive canal along one side with swing seats, plus a decent pool, a small but reasonable gym, and two restaurants, one Thai and one international. It's conveniently close to Suvarnabhumi Airport, with a regular shuttle. A good stopover in Bangkok, highly recommended.

The rooms haven't changed, they're still small, with old-style decor and red carpet on the floor. It's nice enough, but nowhere near worth the price. They've raised it so much in recent years that 200€ for a double room is unbelievable. I'd rather go to Marriott for 250€. They only did a little work on the reception, then seem to think they can charge four times more per night.

You get the basics for a good price: clean rooms, nice staff, and a great location. The pool could use more chairs.

The toast and egg were all right, but the salad was a chunk of sweet mayo with kale, lots of big onion pieces, and some cucumber. I ordered breakfast and asked for bacon, which was listed as an option, but they gave me ham and insisted it was bacon as if I were an idiot. It obviously wasn't.
