Oakwood Suites Bangkok

The gym was the best I’ve seen during my stays in Bangkok, with loads of machines that all looked new and well cared for. It felt great to get a proper workout after all that overeating! The rooms are huge, about the size of a studio flat in Bkk, and come with a washing machine, a family-sized fridge, a coffee pod machine, and some detergent to get you started.

The location worked really well, with a BTS station about a five-minute walk away and plenty of massage places, shops, food courts, restaurants, bars, and convenience stores close by. We spent five nights in a Studio Deluxe room, which was spacious and clean. The stay met our expectations, and the staff were generally friendly and helpful. We’d definitely come back.

Housekeeping was good, and the location is convenient for the BTS, 7-Eleven, and malls. The rooms are a bit small but still acceptable. The front desk was the worst part. The ladies there, one named lalana and the other kannika, though I’m not sure which was which, had a terrible attitude. The more mature-looking one was especially unprofessional and sarcastic. I understand explaining hotel policy, even when I’m frustrated, but asking whether I needed the extra bed after I’d already paid for it felt ridiculous. I’ve visited Bangkok many times and never had a hotel experience that made me this angry, even at Amari and other hotels in the Pratunam area. It felt like she might not have spoken so sarcastically if I looked wealthy. With other hotels along Stretch Rows, I won’t consider this one again. I’m not paying to be upset and have to see that face. There are better choices, and I’m never staying here again.

We’ve stayed at Oakwood four times, and it’s always worked really well for our family. The two-bedroom suite is ideal, especially with a separate playroom for the kids. It’s also close to the BTS, which makes getting around Bangkok easy. We’d definitely stay again.
