The staff were friendly and nice, and the pool looked good, though I didn’t get around to trying it. We paid an extra 260 baht per night to switch from our Agoda corner room to one with a balcony and a view of the pool. That was worth it for us. The corner room was huge, but there was a strong sewage smell coming from the drains outside the windows, even with them shut. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious, and the retro look suits the hotel’s name. The upkeep feels retro too, so don’t expect fancy furnishings. It’s tucked away in Sukumvit, near both Asok BTS and Sukumvit MRT.

RetrOasis has a lot going for it. There’s a 7/11 right outside, a sports bar nearby, and an international grocery store about a five minute walk away. British pubs, Japanese restaurants and grocery stores, luxury malls, and massage parlours are also close. The breakfast was good, with hot choices, fruit, juice, cereal, coffee, and tea, and it runs from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. The check-in area has a coffee shop, and the staff speak good English. My room had blackout curtains, a fairly spacious bathroom, soft pillows, a large armoire, and a bar fridge that got very cold. The balcony looked onto an alley, where there was a little morning noise, but it was bearable. The beds were quite hard, which seems normal, and the TV only had five fuzzy Thai channels. WiFi was great. The pool was clean, and it gets sun for most of the day, so it was nice to relax on the loungers. I’d recommend the hotel. The hard beds and limited TV channels were the only downsides for me, and next time I’d request a pool facing room.

Its main advantage is the location, very close to a Bangkok skyline train station. The rooms are clean, but the hotel feels quite old. The windows aren’t useful since they look straight onto another building. Overall, it’s a very average place.

The customer care was top notch, and the service was nice. I liked the rooms, and there’s a swimming pool, though I didn’t have time to use it. The only thing missing was an elevator. It’s also a bonus that the main road is just a two minute walk away.
