Samran Place Hotel

We stayed here with family last week and found it comfortable and relaxing. The staff were welcoming, and the cleaning crew replenished amenities and consumables daily. If we didn’t want anyone entering to clean, they left a bag of supplies at the door. The beds were comfortable enough for a sound night’s sleep, and the electronics worked while the air conditioning kept the room cool. The hotel is near a train line and other businesses. There were a few issues. The Thai dishes in the buffet had limited variety, even though the hotel serves both Thai and Western food and I expected more Thai options. We could hear machines from another room or the hallway, and the door peephole had no cover, which raised a privacy concern. It’s a decent hotel. Cleanliness, good food, and kind staff are what matter to me.

There’s not much around the hotel, and with Orange Line MRT construction underway when I visited in late 2025, getting there from the BTS involved an uncomfortable detour through a narrow hallway. My room was at the end of the building, along a dim, dark access area. Housekeeping supplies were kept in the open space right outside, which made it feel a bit unsanitary. The view looked like an abandoned building. The room was spacious and clean, and the bathroom was comfortable with good water pressure. The air conditioning wasn’t very cool, though it was tolerable in the cool weather at the time. I’ll choose a different hotel next trip, at least until the MRT construction is finished.

The restaurant staff were kind and professional, and the food itself was good, but breakfast was the same each day with little variety. At the internal restaurant, payment was cash only. Reception staff spoke little English, making communication hard; they smiled, but didn’t come across as genuinely courteous. Our flight was delayed, so we paid for another night and breakfast that we couldn’t use. We politely asked for a small goodwill gesture, but the request was turned down without much consideration. Breakfast times also weren’t clearly explained, which caused confusion. There are more central hotels with better service and cleaner rooms. We enjoyed the dining experience, but reception service fell short.

The hotel was decent, but I didn’t enjoy the food. My soup tasted very soapy and had a dead ant in it. I showed it to the staff after paying, and they didn’t even apologize.
