Step One at Bangkok

It’s in a local residential area, so you get more of a feel for everyday Thai life. The city center is a little far, but not too far, and the host was great. The only thing likely to disturb you is the A/C, but I think you can live with it and enjoy Bangkok, Thailand. 9/10. One tip: bring your own towels if you plan to use the ones provided by the hotel, as they can be a little spotty.

For the price, it’s a normal hotel. The place is quite clean, with video surveillance and a small parking lot. There’s a kettle and hairdryer in the room, but the bed linen could use changing. Internet is fast in the hallway and slow in the room. Cleaning is available on request, at least every day. There are two brothers at reception. One is friendly, smiles, and speaks English, a good guy. The other doesn’t even say hello and doesn’t seem interested in talking, always looking dissatisfied. I didn’t want to interact with him. Thanks very much to everyone else, though. I really didn’t like the area. There are Chinese restaurants and lots of parking lots, and some places feel run-down. There are almost no tourists and no local cafes or traders nearby. The nearest 7eleven is a 15-minute walk in the heat. But if you ride one metro station in either direction, you’re right in beloved Bangkok. I’m unlikely to pick this hotel again because the area isn’t suited to tourism.

We paid in advance, but when we arrived at 7pm with our little kid, the hotel said they had a problem with agoda and booking and no rooms were available. They already knew when we’d arrive, but offered us no solution. After some arguing, they put us in a car and sent us to a different, much more expensive hotel. They said it was covered, yet we had to pay that hotel as well. The worst experience ever. Do yourself a favor and NEVER book here.

The area is nice and quiet, and the room was new, clean, and nice. The highway is a 1 minute walk away, and the gym is about 3 minutes on foot. If the Thailand government loses their big ego's, I’d consider staying here long term.
