The housekeeper was lovely, and reception let me check in a little early for free, even though I hadn’t asked. But the reception staff felt unwelcoming and hostile, as if they’d rather guests weren’t there. I know communication styles differ across cultures, but their manner didn’t match what I expected from the land of smiles. The room itself was quite nice, though a strange smell got worse over time, and I had no hot water for my whole stay. I’d also read bad reviews about guests being charged for stains they hadn’t caused, so when I checked in I made sure to point out anything I noticed in the room.

The location suited me well, close to Khaosan road and other old town attractions. For the price, the room was okay, but it had a weird smell and the A/C didn’t work properly despite being listed as an amenity. The room cleaners were polite even with the language barrier. At reception, though, I found the staff hostile and unhelpful. They asked me to pay 1000BAHT in cash on arrival, which I couldn’t find mentioned on their site. I was also charged extra for stains on a towel. I was told this was their tactic for charging extra money. Get a new washing machine, for God's sake. Their behavior was incredibly unprofessional and unwelcoming. Not recommended.

The pillows were too flat, so I asked for two extra since there were two of us sleeping there. Reception charged me extra. The air conditioner is very old.

The hotel was quiet and felt very safe. Khao San Road is close enough to walk to, and you can get elsewhere by Grab or Bolt. I spent 15 days here during my 25-day trip around Thailand. The price was affordable.

It’s okay. The area isn’t very central, so you’ll need to walk or take a Grab to get to the nicer parts. They’re not too far away, though.
