Thai Love Cafe & Hostel

The staff were friendly and helpful, but the beds are rock hard. The mixed dorm is on the fifth floor, which is a tough climb with a heavy backpack. The lobby smelled bad and was dirty, with dog and cat pee and poo around because the owner has pets. There are two other hostels on the same street that are very good and cheaper.

The staff were lovely, and the air conditioning worked well. They also had free water and coffee, plus some cute dogs and a cat. They’d rescued a kitten too, which was sweet. My room was tiny, windowless, and smelled a bit off. There was only a quilt on the bed, no sheets, and I hope they wash it each time since I prefer sheets. It was on the fourth floor, so lots of stairs. There weren’t interesting sights or restaurants nearby, and I used Grab to go see things. The location was okay, but I didn’t know how to use public transport, so maps, info, or suggestions would’ve helped, like at the second hostel I stayed at. It was an okay stay.

The staff spoke enough English and were helpful. The dorms and kitchen were clean, though the beds squeaked a little. Cockroaches were in an old water boiler, and sometimes came out elsewhere in the kitchen, in things that hadn’t been moved in a while. Most guests were Asian, and I was the only European during my stay.

The Rataprarop BTS station is only a two-minute walk away, which makes getting around easy. It’s a great budget stay in Bangkok, newly built and well managed, with very cooperative staff. They even provide free coffee.
