The Grand Palace Hostel

Mr. Kew, the hotel owner, was very courteous, and the hotel has good locks. The rooms are a little small but clean. My main concern was the area outside, which felt very uncomfortable. Shops nearby all close around 4-5 pm, and we were walking alone from indian street. If you're traveling as a couple, I'd suggest finding somewhere else. We booked two days but left after only half a day, and I didn't get a refund. A group traveling together might still choose this hotel, but I can't recommend it to solo travelers or couples.

We had things on the balcony that went missing. When we asked the staff, first we were told they'd been thrown away, then that maybe other guests had taken them. Somehow, some of the items then turned up in the reception desk drawer, but the rest was still just gone. We couldn't believe it. Don't stay here if comfort or security matters to you. The staff stole from us!!!

It's a cheap hotel in a good spot near the palace and temples. The rooms were clean, but the shower was stingy with hot water and the Wi-Fi wasn't great. You get what you pay for.

Wat Pho is about a 10-15 minute walk away, and the location is fine. The rooms have been refurbished recently and are fine too. But check carefully if you book a triple: our room had two larger beds side by side, so one of us had to sleep in the gap between the mattresses. Breakfast is available but costs extra. The staff were helpful despite some communication trouble because of their limited English. Wi-Fi only worked in the lobby and on the terrace, not in our room.
