We planned four nights but booked another hotel for the rest of the trip after just one. I’m not sure why this is called a four-star hotel or recommended on Agoda. It’s definitely not friendly for tourists, and I won’t stay here again. The room had very basic facilities: fridge, hair dryer, kettle, shampoo, shower gel, shower cap, toothbrushes, and towels. It was much smaller than the pictures suggested. The toilet layout was strange because the sink is behind the door, so you can’t use it with the door open. The walls under the counter were dirty. It’s about a 10-15 minute walk to BTS and more than five stops from the city centre. We stayed the first night because the bed and shower were comfortable enough. In the morning, though, a smell from the pipe was unbearable, like sewage, so we left. At checkout the receptionist only asked to check the room and didn’t ask why we were leaving after one night or try to get feedback.

The room was mostly clean, though the cupboards had a bit of dust. We appreciated the large fridge-freezer, and the air conditioning worked well. The biggest problem was the shower: even on its highest setting, the water was only lukewarm. Other reviews make me think there may be a plumbing issue. They supplied shampoo and shower gel, and I think there was a shower cap and hairbrush, but no hand soap. Soi 101 has several 7-Elevens, laundrettes, bars, and street food stalls, and it’s about a ten-minute walk to the BTS. The pavements are badly broken and being rebuilt, though, so rolling a suitcase along the soi is difficult. You’ll probably need a taxi when arriving or leaving, which takes away some of the benefit of being near the station. That isn’t the hotel’s fault, and hopefully the pavement work will help. From the BTS, you can use the skywalk to reach True Ditigal Park for more shops and food. Punnawithi is 11 stations from Siam, so visitors wanting to be in central Bangkok might prefer somewhere closer. There was only one coffee table and power sockets on one side of the bed. An extra socket on the other side and bedside lights would help. They also leave a long list of charges for items that are damaged or missing, and check the room at checkout. For the low price, it’s okay, but I don’t think I’d stay again because of the hot water.

There are several good places nearby for Thai food, and the hotel has a café on the ground floor. It’s a relatively new, six-storey building with its own parking, close to Punnawithi BTS on the Sukhumvit Line. My room was spacious and clean, with air conditioning, a private bathroom and toilet, a fridge, and a TV. Wi-Fi was fast. It should work for solo guests, couples, or larger groups.

The location is a little out of the way, but the price makes sense for it. You can stay in a calmer area, then ride into the busier parts and save some money. The BTS is roughly 600 meters away. Rooms are decent, while the amenities could use improvement. Service was just okay, neither especially good nor bad.

Nothing fancy, but it does the job and I had a comfortable, safe-feeling stay. The train station is close enough to get around, and if you’re watching your budget, this is a reasonable choice for what you pay.
