Le Clarita

A cozy, pleasant spot for a budget trip. Breakfast isn’t included, but they leave instant noodles, cakes, nuts, and coffee mix in the room for free. There’s an elevator for luggage and cargo only, so guests have to take the rather small stairs. I really like this place.

The stairs are steep, as other reviews mention, so take care. There’s a freight elevator for luggage, which helps; you can carry on up the stairs yourself. Our room at Le Clarita was spacious, clean, and designed in a practical, attractive way. It’s a small hotel, but the service gives it a big reputation. The staff were polite, friendly, and helpful. Breakfast isn’t offered, though guests get free snack boxes, which came in handy before our tours. The Wi-Fi was faster than what we have at home. There’s also a friendly dog that lives in the nearby salon. If you see him, say hi and give him a pat.

There’s plenty of good street food around, and the hotel is just a short walk from two major metro lines. It’s also handy if you’re arriving at DMK, since it’s near the highway into town and traffic should be minimal. The reception is open around the clock, and the staff are friendly.

We stayed four days in a room for three. It was a little tight with our big luggage, but we could fit the bags under the long dressing table, which we liked. We were in the room less than six hours a day anyway, and the price seemed reasonable. It’s about a 25-minute walk to Big C supermarket and Central World. We walked once, then took a motorbike taxi instead, around 40-50 baht per person and under five minutes. There are lots of 7/11s, local stalls, and massage places nearby. A good choice if you’re traveling on a budget. The staff were very polite and nice. They cleaned every day and refilled the snacks, which we enjoyed as free supper.
