Tuscany Hotel Buriram

The best parts for me were the new rooms and building, comfortable beds, IKEA-quality furniture, and a large TV. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the pool looked inviting, though I didn’t try it. The location may suit some people, but it’s fairly remote, not especially close to the centre, and right by a busy road. It still has an unfinished feel, both inside and out. The bathroom is the biggest concern: showering leaves water across the floor, so your feet stay wet when you use the toilet later. Staff came to clean when we called, but that’s still a hassle and seems to need structural work. There are also quite a few missing basics: a safe, hairdryer, fridge, bedside light switch, phone, bedside tables, and bathroom hooks for clothes. Housekeeping came only every other day. Breakfast was already picked over 45 minutes before closing. The staff replenished some items quickly, and it was basic, but might be acceptable if it’s part of a modest room rate. The rate is normally around 700 baht a night, but we paid 2,000 because of the (fantastic) Buriram marathon. That’s how the market works, I can’t blame them, though the higher price naturally raised my expectations. The place could become a good option if the owners’ apparent hospitality vision is matched with attention to reviews. It’s still worth seeing for yourself. The Tuscan look isn’t quite there yet, and it lacks the warmth and comfort of its Italian inspiration. Some suitable decor might help create the atmosphere they’re aiming for.

Everything feels new since the hotel has only just opened. It’s surrounded by green fields, and the city centre is only a few minutes away by car. For a really relaxing stay in Buriram, this is the best hotel.

The bed was the worst part of our stay. It was so hard it felt like an old coconut-fibre mattress, and a topper would make the price feel more worthwhile. As it was, I felt the experience really lowered the hotel’s quality and wasn’t worth the money. The room starts at 590 baht and has no refrigerator, so I had to leave my things at the counter. The pool wasn’t available during our stay, and a sign said using it would cost extra instead of being included in the room price. There was no breakfast, coffee, or hot water in the room either. The shower head is set so high that even someone 180 cm tall might have trouble using it. Parking is limited and laid out confusingly, with the space not used efficiently. The check-in desk is off to the side of the hotel; it felt quiet and deserted, and the setup was very basic, with paper records instead of computers. There were only four cars in the parking area on the day we stayed. We usually read reviews before booking, and our previous stays over the last five months had all been positive. I’m confused that none of the reviews mentioned these things. The building front is attractive, with an Italian style, and the hotel is quiet and away from the city, but...

It’s a place to stay with a cafe and a swimming pool, and the facilities are very complete.
