Grand Pacific Sovereign Resort & Spa (SHA Plus+)

We had a perfect stay. The rooms were clean, safe, and nicely presented, and the food and drink options were excellent. There are three pools, each with a well-stocked bar. It's a lovely choice if you want peace and quiet. Without a car, you can find fresh seafood stalls along the beach, and Brothers and Sisters Restaurant is a first-class option about a seven-minute walk away. Highly recommended.

The hotel itself was totally fine, but I left really disappointed by the way they handled our laundry. We asked about washing 1-2 kg and nobody said there'd be a charge. As we were leaving, they handed us a bill for 1600 THB. That's unacceptable. I've lived in Thailand for two years, and 50-80 THB per kilo is what I'm used to. They also never told us laundry wasn't included in the total payment. It felt like foreigners were being treated as if we'd believe anything, and that farang have become a target here. The attitude seems very different from the past. Service was poor, they could barely speak English, and I felt they kept lying. Sad, but I won't come back.

The beachfront grounds were lovely, with neatly kept lawns and places to sit. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well equipped, and breakfast each morning was fresh, tasty, and had plenty of choices. The staff were friendly and attentive. A few things brought the stay down. The walkways outside the rooms smelled because the floor mats were cushioned. The price seemed a little high compared with nearby resorts offering the same facilities. Also, I had to pay an extra 420 ฿ for two days of breakfast for my seven-year-old son, which wasn't mentioned when I booked.

We'd never been to the quiet village of Cha am before, and the resort made a beautiful first impression. The pool areas were spectacular, and the buffet breakfast had a huge range with especially good service, particularly from Sam, a lovely young lady. The bed was much too hard. The gentleman in charge that night moved us from the twin room, where we were trying to push two uncomfortable beds together, to a king bed. That made a huge difference to our stay.
