Arnoma Grand

The bell boys were helpful and the location is good, but in my opinion that doesn’t make this place worth staying at. It’s not worth even one star to me. Please pay attention to the negative reviews before booking. I found the place nasty and unacceptable. The hotel felt old, outdated, and run down, and there was a strong mildew smell in the lobby, on our floor, and in the room. When I was getting ready to leave, I saw several roaches in the bathroom and around the common area. The carpet was stained, the bathroom wasn’t clean, there was hair across the floor and in the drain, and the showerhead had mold. The vent also looked like it hadn’t been maintained or wiped down. I told the front desk about the roaches and showed photos, but the person there seemed unable to understand what I was saying. I can’t see how this is supposed to be a 4 star hotel. It was a terrible experience, even for one night.

The pool was a highlight for me. It’s nice, with both covered and uncovered areas, and larger than the pools at most hotels in BKK. Breakfast was also good, with a reasonable range of local and Western options, and the restaurant was very clean. The two gentlemen in suits or tuxedos at the main entrance were extremely polite and sincere. I liked their professional attitude. Room 705 had been refurbished a year or two ago. It’s basic, with a bathtub and cold air conditioning. The facilities may not be as complete as at other 4-5 star hotels, but I’d focus on the positives. One improvement would be replacing or cleaning the hallway floor mats, which had a slight unpleasant smell. The location is very convenient if you want to walk to Erawan shine, plathunam mall, central mall, or siam paragon. You can also walk to the nearby BTS station, Chit lom, to reach popular spots in Sukhumvit or Chatuchat.

The room cleanliness was the biggest concern for me. We came across four small cockroaches during our stay. With my 5-month-old baby there, that was very upsetting. We were washing and drying bottles and breast pump parts in the room, so having roaches where the baby sleeps and feeds, and where feeding items are handled, felt unacceptable. Cleanliness and safety should come first, especially for a hotel that presents itself as family-friendly. I no longer feel confident staying at Arnoma Grand, even though I’ve liked its location and concierge team in the past. I’ve stayed at Arnoma Grand several times over the last few years and had always appreciated the service, but this visit with my baby and a larger family group was very different. At check-in, the staff member helping us, whose name started with “P”, seemed visibly annoyed even though only two of us were at the counter with our infants. We had two bookings through different platforms, and one phone had an internet problem, so we couldn’t open one of the booking details. She kept telling us to “sit down” without suggesting a way to sort it out. We were anxious and couldn’t access the information. It was around 12pm+, and we were told Wi-Fi was only available after check-in, while rooms wouldn’t be ready until 2pm. Much later, she offered to find the reservation using our passports, which immediately fixed it. If she’d mentioned that option at the start, it would have saved us a lot of stress and confusion. After we got settled, there was a queue behind me, so I lined up again with another question. She saw me and looked annoyed, as if wondering why I’d come back, which made things even more uncomfortable. The concierge team, on the other hand, was wonderful. They were kind and helpful, and some were familiar from earlier stays. They helped me borrow fridge and freezer space for breastmilk, and I really appreciated it. I was surprised the hotel didn’t have a deep freezer for cooling ice packs, which made travelling with an infant more difficult.

My stay left me with a few concerns about the hotel. Some toilets in the lobby were unclean, which made a poor first impression, and housekeeping needs more attention. During one stay, basic items like toothpaste, a toothbrush, and enough towels were missing. I think there should be more housekeeping staff on each floor so rooms can be checked and kept up properly. The breakfast wait was very long, almost like standing in a queue, and uncomfortable. Staff service varied: on some days people were friendly and smiling, while on others they seemed angry and unprofessional. One staff member at the courier/service counter stood out, and I’d strongly suggest more customer service and communication training. One of the rooms I stayed in also had inadequate facilities that needed repair and improvement. The hotel has potential, but cleanliness, staff professionalism, housekeeping, and room facilities all need work. I hope this feedback helps improve things in the future.
