The Motifs Eco Hotel (SHA Extra Plus)

We liked the beautiful rooms, their thoughtful decor, and how clean everything looked. The hotel’s design and room quality were good enough that I can still recommend it, even though we ran into several service problems that seemed individual rather than a sign of the whole property. The biggest issue for us was dinner. We clearly asked for vegetarian salads, but what arrived didn’t match the descriptions and included meat and shrimp. The staff didn’t offer an apology or a suitable replacement, and the situation was handled badly. Communication was difficult in general because many staff members didn’t speak enough English. We also got wrong directions from the receptionist, including inaccurate distance information and no warning that nearby shops close on weekdays, which would have been useful to know as tourists. With two young children, the low barrier by the koi pond felt unsafe. Warning signs were there, but little kids are still likely to lean on it, so it should be fixed or removed. The fish delighted the children, though the hotel’s “eco” claim about keeping them seemed questionable. Housekeeping also missed our room on our one-night stay, despite the “Make Up Room” sign being out and staff nearby. The small breakfast buffet was enough, with à la carte choices as well, and we appreciated the effort to limit food waste. Our pre-arranged airport transfer with child seats worked well, but we were charged extra because of our luggage, which seemed a reasonable amount for a family of four. That cost should have been accounted for when we booked. At checkout, they also asked us to pay for a little spice container our child had accidentally dropped. That seemed inappropriate for a consumable, and the manager apologized and removed the charge after we raised it.

The team made things easier for me even before I arrived. I had health problems and an important meeting, so they put me in a room with very stable Wi-Fi and let me use a meeting room for free. When my phone wouldn’t connect properly, everyone pitched in to help, and they were incredibly kind. From the front desk to the cleaning ladies and night guard, the staff were lovely, and as a solo traveler I felt very safe. I’d originally booked three nights at Motif Eco Hotel, but I liked the hotel’s feel and the city so much that I added another. It was spotless and good value. The bed was comfortable, the Smart TV had YouTube, the shower pressure was great, and towels were replaced daily. It’s quiet, eco-friendly, and has nice shared spaces to relax in. Chanthaburi has plenty of little places to discover if you like a Slow Life and a peaceful break. The Waterfront is a 15-minute walk, there’s a park close by, and calling a Grab is easy. The hotel’s suggestions also led me to some great cafes and restaurants where I could eat and work. A couple of small things: there was a faint sewer smell in the bathroom now and then, probably from city pipes, and once they missed the bath mat. Neither spoiled the stay. The bathroom baseboards have darkened over time and could be updated to match how spotless the rest of the room is. I’ll definitely return to Chanthaburi and this hotel. Big thanks to the team for making me feel safe and rested.

We spent Valentine’s at Motifs. The room was roomy and modern, there was lots of parking, and the staff were polite. I liked that breakfast was portioned just right for one person, so there wasn’t waste. My small complaints are that the bathroom could use more room for toiletries and the water pressure could be stronger.

The reception and restaurant looked clean, and the outside is attractive, but I was really let down by the room. It was full of mosquitoes, and nobody answered when I called reception to complain. The interior wasn’t good, so I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
