The Peak Chanthaburi Hotel

We had a standard room. It was quite large, and the shower was excellent, with great pressure and the best rain shower I’ve had in Thailand. Breakfast was decent, a typical Thai buffet, and there’s a nice pool, though it was very dirty and crowded with busloads of tourists. Cleanliness was a serious problem in the room. The floors were dirty, the towels were stained and gross, and the sheets didn’t look clean either. We asked staff to change the towels, and they agreed, but couldn’t find any without stains. The room needed repairs too: the toilet seat was attached with one bolt and kept sliding around on the porcelain. The air conditioner took 2-3 hours to cool the room and wasn’t very powerful. The pictures make the place look newer than it is. If you don’t care about cleanliness, you might enjoy it, but I’d recommend avoiding this hotel.

The Peak has an impressive exterior and a big pool beside the main river in Chantaburi. Our room was very clean, with standard hotel furnishings and facilities. We visited over a long public weekend, so there were lots of families around. The breakfast selection was broad, but tables and space were limited, so expect to queue at busy times. The staff didn’t feel welcoming, as if they didn’t want to be working there, and they seemed reluctant to enforce the hotel rules. There was a clearly marked non-smoking area where some non-Thai guests were smoking, but staff didn’t step in.

My room was excellent for the price, clean, comfortable for sleeping, and in a pleasant setting. It also had all the functions I needed, which made it convenient. Service was great, and every staff member was friendly and helpful. A very good hotel in Chanthaburi, and I’d definitely stay here again if I get the chance.

Reasonably priced, and the riverside view is nice. The hotel is new, with an outdoor pool and a small fitness room. My room looked clean at first, but there was dirt and staining that needs attention. Breakfast was a bit below average for variety. A few things could be improved.
