There are several nice spots to hang out, including a covered area beside the creek, a patio near the rooms, and a deck on part of the roof. The extra toilets and showers outside the house are in great shape too. The kitchen is the best-equipped one I've come across in a Thai hostel, with good equipment and basics like oil and spices, though they also provide instant coffee. I was lucky to meet lots of great travelers while I was there. A really nice stay.

The kitchen had everything for cooking and even serving meals nicely, and we kept coming back to use the place as a base for trips around Chiang Dai. The beds are comfortable, it's clean, and there are plenty of showers and toilets for the number of guests, including some outside. There's a big property and a view, not huge, but nice to enjoy with an evening glass of wine. Definitely recommend it!
The staff were friendly and helpful, and they gave me an extra blanket when I asked. Breakfast is toast with butter and jam plus instant white coffee. They also provide towels and two bottles of water as a welcome kit, and the WiFi was good, with 217 download and 28 upload. I liked the place, it was beautiful and quiet. The dorm bed had basically no mattress, so be ready to sleep on the wooden surface. One guest asked for extra pillows and made a mattress out of the four he got. There was only one bathroom for everyone.
The shared spaces are great for relaxing, and the kitchen is fully equipped if you want to cook. The facilities were super clean, and the dorm was comfortable. There's no AC, but the fans were more than enough. The staff were lovely too. It's in the middle of a small community, with a river right there and beautiful natural surroundings. I had a lovely stay.
The private rooms with decks over the river looked really appealing, and they seemed like good value, especially since they're far from the barking. I'd still recommend one if you have your own transport or don't mind the stray dogs. I had mixed feelings about the place. The location is stunning, and I could happily spend days in the hammocks on the communal decks. The dorm's mosquito nets worked well, the hot water did too, and the basic facilities seemed fair for the price. The shared dorm was a rough place to sleep, though. It sits at the back of the garden beside a neighbor's house, and their dog barked nonstop from dusk until dawn. The bedding was strange too, just a thick fleece blanket with no top sheet or duvet cover. It was hot inside without AC, so I slept on top of the blanket and used a towel to cover myself. I didn't get a good rest. There were also stray dogs around. I only found out about them quite a while after arriving, when a staff member spotted me heading into town and showed me a safer shortcut. I understand the hostel can't do much about the stray dog problem, but a heads-up before I walked alone from the bus station with a heavy bag would've helped. A fence at the entrance might also help, since the dogs seem to wander in sometimes.
