Chiangkhan River Green Hill

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, with strong water pressure and no bad smell. Still, at a price of over 2,000 THB, the stay didn’t feel worth it. Some areas needed repairs, and a gecko in the room put me off using the balcony. The tent area had a nicer view than the private rooms. Breakfast was limited to congee, noodle soup, a small station for fried, scrambled, or soft-boiled eggs, instant coffee, Ovaltine, and a basic salad bar. The property is a short way from Chiang Khan Walking Street, set back from the busy area to avoid the crowds. But Baan Tid Din nearby had a concert on the day we arrived, with heavy traffic and loud music from the evening until just before midnight. I understand the event, but the hotel should have let guests know about it beforehand. At check-in, staff said there was a shuttle to the Walking Street. Once we arrived, they reluctantly explained it only ran once daily, leaving at 5 PM and returning at 7 PM. They offered no other help or options.

Our self-contained unit was new, in great condition, and had a balcony overlooking the Mekong river. The reception staff were helpful and knew their stuff. There’s also a restaurant at the resort with tasty food and beer at a good price. I’d recommend staying for the views and the quality of the accommodation.

The balcony was the best part of the forest villa. I could wake up to a great view of the fog, with green farmland, mountains, and lots of trees around. The villa was smaller than I expected, though the bed was comfy. The bathroom was pretty bad and laid out awkwardly. Breakfast was okay, with enough variety but nothing special. There are plenty of photogenic spots nearby. For the price, the stay was good.

The river and mountain views are a big part of the appeal at Chiangkhan River Mountain Resort, and the grounds feel peaceful, with well-kept gardens and a swimming pool. Rooms are spacious and have balconies with wide views of the river. The resort is a short drive from Chiang Khan’s Walking Street, and has plenty of parking plus a boat dock for river taxis. There’s an on-site restaurant and café, complimentary Wi-Fi in the lobby, and bicycles for exploring the area. Guests also praise the attentive service. With comfortable rooms and a tranquil setting, it’s a popular choice for a quiet stay in Chiang Khan.
