Namkhong Riverside Hotel Chiang Rai

Booking directly is significantly cheaper: Baht 700 on the first floor, 800 on the second, 900 on the third, and 1000 on the fourth, in high season 2026. Every room has a balcony with comfortable chairs and excellent Mekong River views. There are insect screens on the windows and shower curtains in the bathrooms. The deck staff can be a bit grumpy, and the loaner bicycles are only functional at best. Internet is barely usable, with many rooms sharing a 15 Mbps connection through one Wi-Fi router.

Our third-floor room had a good view. We paid 900 THB in May, during low season. Very nice overall.

The only real positive was the river view. We stayed one night. The bed was comfortable and well equipped, but the bathroom smelled awful. Noise carries from the other rooms, and at 5h30 am a group from the hotel started exercising outside. Breakfast was a shame, with almost nothing to eat: cheap white bread, no fruit, and cold eggs or sausages. I wouldn’t recommend it.

We had a nice balcony with a sunrise view, and there was coffee in the room. The breakfast buffet was okay, and the rooms were decent, though a little tired. It’s a large hotel that seems to run efficiently, in the original part of town, with bars and restaurants nearby. There are good walks along the river from the hotel. I haven’t stayed anywhere else in town to compare, but for the price we paid I felt we’d made a good choice. I’d rate it highly and would happily book again.
