The room looked stylish, and the pool area was nice, but our stay was disappointing. We chose a four-star hotel expecting it to be clean. There was lots of hair, a dirty tissue, and a pill on the floor. Since we had a crawling baby, I asked for the floor to be wet-cleaned. Staff came right away, but it still wasn’t clean, so we asked reception again. After the second cleaning, it was okay. There were insects in the room too, as the window had been left open when we arrived, possibly for hours. The gym was closed for maintenance. For breakfast, cafe jame is a three-minute walk away. It opens at 8:00 am and serves really good food and coffee.

I didn’t stay here, but the woman at reception was rather rude. The place was also a little difficult to find, tucked into an alley.

The service was faultless, and the staff were all very friendly. There’s a small gym and an outdoor pool, and Central Festival, a very large new shopping centre, is about a seven-minute drive away, though not really walkable. The setting felt quite isolated: the hotel is on a small road without lights, and I didn’t feel completely safe coming back at night. It’s worth considering as a base on the east side of the river if you want to explore from there. I’m not usually a fan of boutique hotels, but you could give this one a try while it’s still new.

The staff were amazing and went out of their way to accommodate my family with young children and my coworkers. Mosquitoes were hard to avoid in Chiang Mai, but there were too many in the rooms; a plug-in repellent from staff sorted it out. The location is handy for the highway and mall, though there aren’t tuk-tuks or many services within an easy walk. There’s no laundry on site.
