The receptionist was friendly, though not on duty around the clock. My private room was small, but it had many useful basics, including a hairdryer, drinking water, towels, shower gel, and shampoo. I wasn't confident about the door lock's security. The perfume smell in the room was much too strong for me and made me dizzy, and the sound of airplanes overhead was loud.

I’ve stayed in plenty of hotels and Airbnb places, and this was the worst by far. I don’t know how it got a four-star rating. The room had no ventilation apart from the AC, and neither did the bathroom. The window wouldn’t open, and no natural light came in. The bed was awful, extremely hard, with springs digging into my back. The worst part was the dirt and mold. There was mold all over the bathroom, on the walls, floor, and under the sink. The bathroom and room walls felt sticky, and the so-called closet space was filthy. I finally decided to cancel after finding mold on one of my clothes inside my suitcase, which I’d left open on the floor because there was nowhere else to put it.

We lost 2000 baht after 20 minutes, but at least we left. This was a stressful experience, and I’m writing in hopes of saving someone else from it. We booked through a guide who was supposed to show us the city, but the wrong night had been reserved. That wasn’t the hotel's fault, so we decided to pay for two rooms for the three of us rather than make an issue of it. We then found out there was no elevator, so guests with large luggage have to carry it up four flights of stairs. The stairs had cheap, torn blue carpet, which wasn't reassuring. The rooms were tiny, with full-size beds and 24-inch TVs. The bathroom had no separate shower area, something I’ve seen in some Thai apartments, but I expected better from a hotel rated 4.1. My friends were on another floor, so they asked me to try their bed. It was the stiffest one I’ve ever lain on. Even the stair carpet felt softer. I turned on the AC, then went to ask if we could cancel the cash payment. I was told that wasn't possible. We decided to take the loss and check out of what felt like a hell hotel. When I returned to pack, the AC seemed to have filled the room with very poor-quality air. I started coughing badly while gathering my things. We left and checked into Moose Hotel Nimman around the corner instead. It had an elevator, clean rooms and clean AC, plus great customer service. Bad rooms and bad customer service made for a bad time.

The place is in a quiet spot a few minutes off the main road, but the rooms looked much better in the pictures. The bed is rock hard, and the poor sound insulation means you can hear every word in the hallway.

A small hotel in a very convenient part of Nimman, Chiang Mai, with lovely design and a decent price. The room was fairly clean and spacious, and the bed was soft and wide. Free parking is offered, though it can be hard to find a space if you arrive late at night. A good place to stay.
