The two people at reception were absolutely lovely, and they’re the only reason I’m giving this hostel one star. Without them, I’d give it zero. The price is cheap, and I agree that price reflects quality, but I’d still expect the floors to be clean and bins full of toilet paper to be emptied before I had to text the owner about them. Honestly, don’t look at the toilet if you want to keep your appetite for dinner lol. We stayed four days. Shoes aren’t allowed upstairs, which would be fine if the floors were cleaned regularly. I saw them swept once, but never mopped, and my socks and feet were black by the time I climbed three floors. We were lucky not to find bed bugs like other people had, but the beds felt like slabs of concrete, with pillows just as hard. The bed curtains shown in the listing were missing, even though the rails were there. The laundry setup costs 30 baht to use the machine and 5 baht for detergent. That part sounds good, until you get to the revolting stale urine smell outside the washing area. I could barely breathe there and couldn’t hang my clothes out. My partner did, and the clothes reeked, so now we’ll have to wash them again. Reception is the only common area, and there’s no A/C. There’s another sofa and table upstairs, but a tent takes up most of that space. My partner and I had a quiet conversation on the stairs as we were heading out at 8pm, and the person staying in the tent shushed us. We booked without checking the Google Maps reviews first, so I’m writing this to help others avoid our mistake. I don’t usually leave bad reviews, and this is my first. The owner replies to negative reviews in a very unprofessional way, and I expect the same here. Just because some guests don’t complain doesn’t mean there isn’t a problem. As you can see from my profile, I don’t post bad reviews lightly.

We really liked the location during our four days here. It’s close to the old city and North Gate Jazz Co-op, and there’s an amazing night market around the corner. The hostel has lots of services available, and the staff are really friendly.

The location really is good, but so are the bedbugs. I was bitten on both my legs and arms and had to use medicine. I suffered a lot, and getting the bedbugs off my belongings has been the biggest hassle. They’re disgusting and hard to deal with, and catching “those evidences” at the hostel takes time. In response: this host always tries to put the problems on customers. I’m sure she knows the hostel has bedbugs. The funny part is that she keeps blaming people and trying to cover up the truth. If you have time to argue, you’d be better off handling the millions of bedbugs in your hostel instead of covering the truth.

After the owner's reply, as expected, the owner and staff are defensive instead of looking at their own business. Funny people like this don’t deserve your money. Dirty is dirty, you can’t change that. Many people have already written about bed bugs, and we were still accused of being a mole. What a funny business. I booked a private room with a shared bathroom, knowing exactly what shared facilities mean and expecting basic comfort and cleanliness. They put us on the third floor with no elevator. That’s inconvenient already, and at most hostels private rooms are on the ground or first floor while dorms go higher, so private-room guests don’t have to haul heavy luggage upstairs. At Doze Hostel it’s the other way around. You pay more and drag your luggage higher. Interesting logic. We checked the room after checking in and found two used tampons under the spring bed (photo attached). We told the staff right away. The staff member just took a broom and swept them away without hesitation, as if it were normal. This isn’t dust, it’s a tampon. It makes you wonder about the overall hygiene if something like that gets overlooked. We were tired and it was getting dark, so we decided to rest and deal with it the next day. That night was worse: we were bitten by bed bugs all night, woke up almost every hour scratching, and by morning were covered in red bite marks. We’d booked three nights but stayed only one, then immediately moved to another hostel. At checkout we showed the condition and explained what happened, but the staff didn’t seem concerned. The owner or staff seem to respond defensively to criticism instead of using feedback to improve, so I expect the same response to this review. I travel often and have reached a certain reviewer level across multiple platforms, and I don’t write reviews lightly. This is a fair and honest account of my experience. Instead of improving, they seem offended by criticism. I genuinely hope they focus more on cleanliness, guest comfort, and professionalism than arguing with reviewers. If it still goes indeed that way, I believe they won't be anymore strategic partners for any platforms.

The beds are extremely hard, and the pillows are tiny and uncomfortable. The rooms are dirty, and the bathroom and toilet are absolutely filthy. Hygiene clearly isn’t a priority. The only good thing about this hostel is the staff, who are very kind, helpful, and friendly. I’m giving one star just because of them. Otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend staying here at all.
