Green Palace Hotel

The cleaners threw away my retainers, and the hotel lost them. When I reported it to the manager, they very politely said they’d take responsibility and pay me half the price of a retainer. Two months later, nothing had reached my bank account. I tried contacting them on LINE but got no reply. When I called, they told me not to contact them again because I had no proof. It feels like they planned for things to end this way 😥. The service is very bad, and their manners are poor. The hotel is also very old and dirty. There are many Chiangmai hotels around the same price with much better service, manners, responsibility, cleanliness, and rooms in Nimmanhaeminda. Worst hotel I’ve stayed in.

I paid for a deluxe room, but only found out after reaching it that I’d been put in a standard budget room, without my consent or any advance notice. They said the deluxe room was fully booked and had no WiFi. I never asked to be downgraded over WiFi, so apparently the cheaper room had better service. The price also didn’t match what the photos described. I asked to inspect a deluxe room and found it identical to a standard double room, despite being labelled deluxe and not matching the room photos. The establishment offered no reimbursement, refund, or apology. They only acknowledged what happened and took no action. The customer service was poor even though I’d paid for deluxe, and the whole thing felt deceitful, like they believe tourists are easy to trick. Wait for the booking platform to contact you soon. Let’s report this hotel and see how much they can take in the future before the accommodation provider closes its business. This is ridiculous, right?

The Green Palace is good value, with a convenient location where you can walk to what you need. There’s a 7-11 one block away. The rooms are older in style, but the beds are decent for the price. There’s an elevator, plus laundry on the first floor that takes 10 Baht coins. The front desk staff are nice and made check-in and check-out easy, and they’ll provide soap and change if you need it. The WiFi had a strong signal but kept making me log in again. The shower took some fiddling to get the temperature right. The key is attached to a huge wooden block that won’t fit in a pocket, so you’ll need a bag for it. I’d recommend this place if you want a hotel with a good price and location.

I’m more concerned that I couldn’t trust my belongings to be safe from the maid than I am about the personal items I lost. After the room was cleaned, some things were missing. The front desk said the maid had thrown them away because she thought they were trash, even though the actual trash on my dresser was untouched. I told them personal items shouldn’t be thrown out. Then the owner called me a liar, despite the front desk attendant saying the maid had discarded them. The owner told me to take everything with me whenever I leave and not leave anything in the room. He said this was a cheap hotel in Chiang Mai, but when I asked for a refund for one night, he said that was too expensive. Terrible hotel. Don’t stay here if you care about your belongings.
