The host was pleasant, the breakfast was okay, and the room was large. During our seven days there, though, the room wasn't cleaned and neither the sheets nor towels were changed. Ants kept getting in, so we needed insecticide spray on hand, and geckos came in now and then too. Maybe that's normal in a tropical area.

The school noise mentioned in other reviews didn't bother me. It began after 0700 and went on for about an hour; I'm an early riser, and even as a light sleeper who naps in the afternoon, I didn't hear it then. There are places to eat within a 5 to 10 minute walk, but this is a home with two floors and a couple of rooms on each floor, and no food is provided, as the booking information said. I had some confusion about my reservation. I arrived and called the owner, who first said I'd booked for the following day, then checked and said I could use Room No.4, the family room I'd reserved. My ground-floor unit had three separate spaces. The bedroom had two queen beds. In the living room were a dining table, microwave, toaster, kettle, TV, refrigerator, wardrobe, sofa, small table, and drinking water. The third space was the toilet. The area called a balcony was really the entrance, with stairs up to the floor above. The kitchen had only cups, saucers, and glasses beyond the appliances listed above. There was no bidet or stovetop. I didn't see a washing machine in the room, or anyone I could ask about using one elsewhere. Some things listed on my booking receipt weren't there. The toilet bowl wasn't cleaned properly, and the wall mounted soap tray still had bits of soap from the previous guest. There was no room cleaning during my two night stay. I saw a woman cleaning outside, but she never asked about my room.

We booked at the last minute, and the room was ready very quickly. Unfortunately there was no reception, and nobody came to take out the rubbish or clean. It didn't feel like my money was well spent.
