Akim, the proprietor, has been one of the most helpful people I’ve met in Thailand. Pirates cove is a regular choice for me when I want a quiet drink, friendly company, and an affordable room. The menu is consistently available and ranges from local food and German staples to desserts and surprisingly authentic Mexican dishes. I’d recommend it to middle-aged travelers and expats.

I’m lucky to be staying right next door, because I come by almost every day to watch the parrot, she’s such fun. The couple are warm, kind, and great company, and the food is amazing. I’d happily recommend this place to anyone staying in Chaing Mai.

The teakwood rooms feel cozy, and the bar is a comfortable spot to unwind with local expats and other guests. The place is run by a German Australian and his Thai wife, and the atmosphere is really friendly with good food. Do say hello to the lovely tropical parot, though sometimes she squawks to get attention.

The food was fresh and some of the best I’ve had in ages, and there’s a great choice of alcohol too. The new owner treated me with respect and was really nice and helpful with everything I needed. Pirates cave is cheap, clean, and in a great city location. I’m very happy with my stay and will go back again and again. Thanks so much, I’d recommend it to anyone in chaing mai.
