Rendezvous Oldtown Chiangmai

I stayed five nights and found it good value, especially for a solo traveller who wants a simple, no-frills room. Mine was basic but comfortable, with air-conditioning and a fan. The staff were very helpful, and I could use the room safe after paying a refundable deposit for the key. It’s close to Tha Phae Gate and the international airport. The small alley location keeps things relatively quiet, though the Sunday Night Market is easy to reach and can make things a bit noisy. The place felt peaceful and relaxing, and the rooms were clean. It’s central, near Tha Phae Gate, and the customer service was really good. There’s free coffee, tea, and Ovaltine at the downstairs bar around the clock. Goh at reception was especially helpful and called the tour agency I’d booked with to check the shuttle time. They also suggested local restaurants. You pay a 400 Batt damage deposit, which they return at checkout. I really enjoyed my stay.

The location was great, and the staff were helpful. I also liked having a small balcony, plus free water, coffee, tea, and Ovaltine available all day and night. Sleep was difficult, though. The double bed was two single beds on wheels pushed together, so it slid whenever we moved. The TV was broken for two days, and the old-style fridge was very noisy.

We spent a week at Rendezvous and had a lovely time. The staff were extremely friendly, and housekeeping came every day with clean towels, toilet rolls, and a bottle of water. It was also nice to have free tea and coffee downstairs at any hour. The hotel sits right in the old town, so most places are an easy walk away, or a short taxi ride if needed. The AC dripped quite a bit, and smoking isn’t allowed on the balcony. Those were the only problems we ran into.
