The owner went way beyond what I expected. She helped arrange a car for a mass lantern release event, then came with the driver to pick me up and make sure I was safe, even though she was busy. The café downstairs also serves as the lobby, with fresh flowers, artistic decor, and a cozy look. The location is exceptional, just steps from the old brick wall of the Old City, with bars and food close by. Inside, it was exceptionally clean, peaceful, quiet enough to sleep well, and felt safe. Lockers and shower room were spacious, and there was an iron and a hairdryer in the room. The cleaning lady was courteous and attentive despite the language barrier. I'm so impressed.

This was my first hostel stay. I picked this one because it looked modern, fresh, and clean, and it turned out to be a really good experience. The hostess was amazing. When I travel to Chiang Mai again, I'll definitely stay here.

ShaPel Hostel was clean, quiet, and in a good location, with a cute café downstairs. I had a great time there. It’s friendly and feels safe, and it’s definitely not a party hostel. Recommended if that’s what you’re after.

A great location for a backpacker in Chiang Mai, with nice bathroom facilities. The beds are comfortable and private, with lockable drawers underneath, and the air-conditioning works really well. I had an amazing stay. Just know it isn't a very social hostel, so I wouldn't recommend it if that's what you're looking for.
