Saran Boutique Hotel Thapae

The mattress was so comfortable, even better than the one at the Intercontinental hotel, and I'd stay here again next time. The location is very good, the staff are friendly, and free bicycle rental is available. We were on the fourth floor, which felt tiring at first, but looking out from the balcony each morning made me feel peaceful and good. As others have mentioned, getting the bathroom water temperature right is difficult. Any suggestions for a motorbike rental shop?

A small boutique hotel with helpful, friendly staff. You can walk to temples, convenience shops, places to eat, and massage centres or spas. On Sundays the area turns into a walking street, with plenty of food, souvenir, and clothing stalls. There's also a laundry shop right next door.

The hotel is VERY quiet, and the rooms are especially clean and pretty, with dark wood floors, comfortable beds and furniture, and a wide balcony with a drying rack. That rack was very welcome after being on the road for a few days. Saran Boutique is a beautifully appointed small hotel within Chiang Mai's Old City walls, very central, with restaurants and cafés nearby and a useful 7-Eleven down the road. Markets and canals are a few minutes' walk away. Reception was warm and friendly. I made a mistake with my reservation, and they helped fix it right away. One thing to know: there are no staff from late night until early morning, so arrange a taxi in advance if you might need one. The staff will explain how to open the door after it's locked for the night. I'd happily stay again. It's a truly lovely hotel.
