The area gave us the creeps. The hotel sits on a dead-end road among several abandoned, run-down buildings that seemed to have homeless people camping in them. It felt almost like a haunted house. You’re only ten minutes by car from better areas, but I’d recommend having your own transport. The rooms, though, were amazing: huge and very clean. The staff were lovely and breakfast was fine. Research the location before booking.

We ended up staying an extra week because we were enjoying it so much. The apartment was comfortable too, with a separate bedroom and living room. The place is peaceful, surrounded by greenery and fresh air, yet getting a Grab or Bolt takes just 2-4 minutes, so we hardly used our car. The staff were incredibly thoughtful. We asked if they could make rice porridge each morning, and they did. It tasted just like the kind we have in Russia. We loved our stay.

Merchant Hill was a great place to stay with my partner. It’s a peaceful spot on a no-through road, away from the flight path, but shops and restaurants are still only about a five-minute drive away. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and housekeeping came daily, working around our schedule. The staff were lovely and considerate. I’d recommend it if you want somewhere quiet away from the business of Old Town. 🙏
