The Wing Lanna Hotel

I asked for a quiet room with a big bed and got the bed, but my superior room was above reception, facing the street and a crew of builders working across the road. The windows were permanently shuttered, so there was no view. The pool was a major letdown: barely bigger than a jacuzzi, freezing cold, and tucked into a small courtyard with only three loungers and very little sun. There’s no proper breakfast, though they do provide fresh coffee and toast at reception. It’s also a bit far from the center.

Although the booking says breakfast isn’t included, they do leave out coffee, bread for toast, and a few other things for free. My wife and I stayed several nights at the Wing Lanna. Our room was neat and clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

The TV only had about four channels, none in English, which is why I’d give the room four stars. It wasn’t a big deal since there’s plenty to do. The rooms were clean and the shower was excellent. Staff were especially friendly, and we booked a day trip right through the hotel, which was great. The laundry service was excellent too.

The room was clean and had the essentials, though it was a little small. I liked the simple free breakfast. One thing that bothered me as a solo traveler was the broken window lock, which didn’t feel safe. The room is quite dark, so the lights need to be on all the time. Its large window faces the hallway, and people passing through can be noisy early in the morning or late at night. Street noise wasn’t a problem, though. It’s about 10 minutes from the airport, with a laundry and 7 eleven within a two-minute walk. A nice stay, but in my opinion the better restaurants aren’t especially close.
