Villa Vacay Chiang Mai

For a few days in the city, this was perfect. There was a 24-hour food and stall market nearby. The shared toilets were clean, and we could dry washing on the balcony after using the washing machine for a small fee. The communal fridge, free drinking water and coffee, microwave, dishes, and cutlery were all handy. Friendly hosts made the place feel like home. Thanks 😊

I came planning to stay a few days and ended up here nearly a month. Villa vacay is basically my second home, and I'll always visit when I'm in Chiang mai. Uncle somsak and the aunties are welcoming, and it's a lovely neighbourhood with everything you need close by. The roof terrace is a great place to sit and relax. Unfortunately, work has started next door and looks like a long project, so it's noisy. There are also two cats who fight every morning.

The owner stayed up to welcome us even though we arrived later than he should have had to, after our delay getting into Chiang Mai. He was lovely to talk with, very welcoming, and helpful with everything. We only spent one night, but as traditional backpackers we'd gladly stay again. We'd first booked in the old city because we had an early tour to Doi Sutep and wanted to be sure of pickup. This place is just five minutes from the south side of the old city, with street food markets within a five-minute walk and bars, restaurants, and shops close by. The neighbourhood is quiet, and the rooms have air conditioning and comfy beds. A handy, cheap base for an early start in the city. The showers and toilets are in cubicles on the same floor as the rooms. There are two of each, and from what I could tell, only five rooms, so it shouldn't get too busy. Upstairs there's a nice day-bed-style area to relax.
