B2 Chiang Rai Night Bazaar Boutique & Budget Hotel

The rooms cost more than other options in town, which made us expect more comfort, but the air conditioning was loud, the water heater didn’t work and the rooms smelled of mold. We asked for Wi-Fi but never got the code. A bad stay overall. We arrived after a road trip and they asked for our passport entry stamps. We didn’t have them because the bike shop had kept the passport as a deposit. Staff wouldn’t let us speak with someone who might allow check-in despite what we felt was an unreasonable policy. We asked to cancel and go elsewhere, but were told that wasn’t possible either. After an hour trying to reach the shop, we got a photo so we could check in. Then they asked for a safety deposit and had no cash at all to give change. They made literally no effort to accommodate us. A very bad choice in Chiang Rai.

The Wi-Fi was very fast, and the place was affordable and well located. Check-in took a while, and I had to return because they got the visa page wrong. The lock ran out of battery too, so I went back a couple of times to get it fixed. I also had trouble turning on the AC, though I’m not sure if its remote had a low battery. Not a bad place to stay.

I paid £21.53 for two nights, which was a bargain, and I’d definitely recommend staying here at that price. There’s a 500 baht key deposit. We were on the fourth floor, and the room was relatively small. There’s no elevator, but a 7/11 is less than a five-minute walk away. It was a nice place.

I booked a superior premium room, but apparently those rooms don’t come with a kettle. When I asked reception for hot water or a kettle, they sent me to 7-11 for hot water. There’s no lift or service to help with luggage on the upper floors. Wi-Fi and water pressure were poor, and the room was cold and badly insulated while the bathroom felt like a sauna. It’s no surprise if staying in a room like that makes you sick. The usual Thai friendliness and understanding of tourists’ needs were completely missing. You get what you pay for, a budget stay. Spend another 1$/€/£ and get a nice hotel with good service.
