Laluna Hotel & Resort

The restaurant discount setup was disappointing. Drinks seemed to be priced about twice as high, so happy hour brought them back to regular prices. We also tried to use the 10% coupon but were told it had to be shown before the food arrived. I felt this could take advantage of tourists staying just one night. The grounds and pool are well kept, and the hotel has a quiet, relaxing feel. Our room was dark, the lighting wasn't great, and the bathroom drains smelled. All in all, we had a good stay.

The quiet, green setting and pool were the best parts for me. It's peaceful here, and the night market is about a 25-minute walk away, so you can get to things while staying somewhere calm. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and seem to have been updated, though the property itself feels old in places. The gardens are lush and it's generally well cared for. With all the vegetation around the buildings, though, the rooms can be quite dark even in daytime. Breakfast was basic and fine, but not especially memorable. A solid stay for the price if a relaxed atmosphere and nice pool matter more to you than a fancy breakfast.

Breakfast was okay, though it was the same each day, and we missed a little of the usual Thai warmth and smile during breakfast and around the property. Questions were answered quickly, especially at reception. The garden was lovely and well kept, but there were quite a few mosquitoes. Our room was spacious but rather dark, while the large modern bathroom had good water pressure. We didn't use housekeeping, yet fresh towels and coffee and tea were left at our door daily. The pool looked nice but was quite cold. Check-in and check-out went smoothly, and our 500 baht deposit was returned without trouble. Walking Street is within walking distance. Everything was fine, though something was missing.

The hotel made a great first impression, especially its elegant lobby and attentive, professional service. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and well equipped. Outside, palm trees and lush gardens line the paths, and the pool is large and well maintained, with nice views for cooling off after sightseeing. Breakfast had plenty of local and international choices. The location also worked well for us, just a short walk from central Chiang Rai, with temples, markets, and restaurants easy to reach. It was one of the best hotels I've stayed in, with comfort, understated luxury, and impeccable service. I'll definitely come back.
