The White Temple is only a 2-3 minute walk away, and there’s a 7-11 across the main road. It’s a budget mini-hotel with four purpose-built rooms around a courtyard. My room was spacious, with a good bed and shower, plus a fridge, air conditioning and WiFi. A Grab to central Chiang Rai costs 150 BHT. It’s run by a retired school teacher. I was very happy with the stay and would book again when I return to the White Temple.

There’s a small market and a 7-Eleven across the four-lane road, and parking is available. The place has just four houses and sits about 200 meters from the White Temple. For the price, it’s excellent. Perfect.

It was completely quiet, unlike the noisy, hectic places you sometimes get. We were the only guests that day, and the kind older owner gave us almost total privacy, maybe a little too much! 😂 It felt a bit spooky, but safe, and the room was securely fenced. The room was very clean and affordable. I had a great stay and will come back next time. (4/2/69)

After 5:00 PM the food choices nearby thin out, but there’s a 7-Eleven a minute across the street or you can order delivery. Before then, plenty of places are open. The separate houses are very clean and right by the White Temple, so you can visit in the evening without crowds and get there first thing in the morning. If you need a kettle, 7-Eleven has free boiling water, or you can buy one there for 159 baht and donate it to the resort.

The owner, a lovely older lady, took great care of us and suggested a Khao Soi restaurant at the entrance that Chalermchai Kositpipat often visits. The room was clean and excellent, with all the amenities, and the bed was especially comfortable. Wat Rong Khun is very close and easy to reach on foot. You can check out, leave your car, and then go to the temple. I was really impressed.
